Our 2nd Christmas with Marlie

Marlie loved seeing all her presents under the tree this year:)  She immediately went to her stocking where she found a ball and had to pull it out.  She was very good at unwrapping all her gifts.  It took over 3 hours to get them all opened because she had to spend 10-15 minutes playing with each thing she opened.  We ended up opening gifts, eating breakfast, and then opening more gifts.

After a really fun day at home with Marlie & James we packed up and drove an hour away to James’ grandmom’s house.  Marlie had so much fun playing with all her cousins: especially, Jillian & Kimmie.

THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house

Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,

In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,

While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads;

And mamma in her 'kerchief, and I in my cap,

Had just settled down for a long winter's nap,

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,

I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.

Away to the window I flew like a flash,

Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow

Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below,

When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,

But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer,

With a little old driver, so lively and quick,

I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.

More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,

And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;

"Now, Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen!

On, Comet! on Cupid! on, Donder and Blitzen!

To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!

Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!"

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,

When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky,

So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,

With the sleigh full of toys, and St. Nicholas too.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof

The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.

As I drew in my hand, and was turning around,

Down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound.

He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,

And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot;

A bundle of toys he had flung on his back,

And he looked like a peddler just opening his pack.

His eyes -- how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!

His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!

His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,

And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow;

The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,

And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath;

He had a broad face and a little round belly,

That shook, when he laughed like a bowlful of jelly.

He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,

And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself;

A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,

Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread;

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,

And filled all the stockings; then turned with a jerk,

And laying his finger aside of his nose,

And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose;

He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,

And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.

But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight,

"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night."

Falcons & Steelers

James & I have had a great season so far with both of our teams. We were so lucky to go to the Falcons/Buccaneers Game last weekend and the Titans/Steelers game today. Last weekend the Falcons beat the Bucs in OT and with the win today clinched a playoff spot. Wow, they overcame so much from last year: vick participating in dog fighting, new coach quitting in the middle of the season, and a losing season. This year they are in the playoffs and could possibly be a 2nd seed. GO FALCONS!!!

At kick-off today, the temp in nashville was 32 degrees with a windchill of 8 degrees. We bundled up in our many layers to brave the cold and cheer on our Steelers!! This game was a huge AFC match-up for the chance to have home field in the play-offs. The Steelers unfortunately didn't win but we're okay with being the 2nd seed. We think it'll end up working in our advantage:) Every Titans game is sold out but there were tons of empty seats and tons of Steelers fans there. That means that the "fair weather" fans that we love so much (ha!) couldn't brave the cold weather and either sold their tickets to steelers fans or just didn't show up. WOW........that would never happen in Pittsburgh.......guess that's why we're the #1 fans in the NFL year after year!!!! Anyhow, we're still very proud of our black & gold and can't wait for the playoffs to start.

I think I see a Falcons/Steelers Superbowl in our future:)

Last Saturday, 9 of us, piled into a 15 passenger van to drive to Atlanta. James' dad rented a van so we could all travel together and it was so much fun! We had a great day at James' grandparents house. There were around 45 people in their house all day:) We had pizza, lots of sweets, and enjoyed opening christmas presents. Marlie got to play with her cousins, Emma, Nathan, Langston, & Emerson. We wish we lived closer to all of them. We had so many great pictures but I will only post a few of them. There are always more pictures for every post on my picasa picture link:)

James' dad bought Predators tickets last year, for the company to enjoy, and renewed them this year. We love going to the games any chance we get. Marlie LOVES "hock hock!" She cheers when everyone else does and doesn't miss anything that's going on. She growls at their mascot (it looks like a scary cat but she thinks it's a dog, ha!)
